Your Google Reviews Aren’t Missing — Google Is (For Now)

I logged into Google Business to reply to some client reviews and was met with either reviews with no replies or “You have no reviews yet.” What?! EEKK! When I went to my own Google Business Profile – Five stars, sixteen reviews, right there at the top of the screen – and yet the reply panel below it acted as if I’d never received a single one.

If you’ve seen the same thing on your own profile this month, take a deep breath. This isn’t something you did, and it isn’t something you’re going to have to fix. It’s Google. It might feel like the classic “it’s not you, it’s me… but really…it IS them! 😁

What’s Actually Happening

Starting around July 9th, business owners across the country began flagging the same glitch in the Google Business Profile Community forum: the review count at the top of the dashboard is accurate, but the reply panel underneath shows zero reviews, or worse, “You have no reviews yet.” My own profile, sitting at 16 reviews I’ve replied to over time, showed no replies!

Search Engine Journal reported that Google confirmed it was actively fixing an issue that was temporarily preventing some merchants from seeing reviews on their Google Business Profile dashboard. The important part of that statement: those reviews remain published and visible to anyone looking at your business on Search and Maps. This is a dashboard display bug, not a data loss issue. Your replies didn’t vanish, Google’s backend just isn’t showing them to you correctly right now.

Reload the page, click into a different tab, or check back the next day, and (like mine did) it may sort itself out. Google has said the fix is rolling out “over the coming days.”

Why This Matters for Your Business

I talk to a lot of small business owners who lean on Google reviews as one of their most trusted forms of marketing, and reply consistency is a real part of that. So here’s why a display glitch like this is worth paying attention to, even though it’s temporary:

  • It can create a false sense of urgency. If your dashboard tells you a 5-star review from a loyal customer has “no reply,” you might scramble to respond again, potentially posting a duplicate reply once the glitch clears.
  • It’s easy to mistake for a bigger problem. This is actually the second Google Business Profile hiccup this month – in early July, some owners saw their actual review counts drop dramatically before Google restored them. Knowing which bug you’re looking at helps you know whether to panic (you don’t need to) or just wait it out.
  • Your public listing is unaffected. Customers browsing your business on Search or Maps are seeing your real review count and your real replies the whole time. The bug lives only in the merchant-facing dashboard.

What To Do If You See This

  1. Check Search or Maps directly, not just the dashboard. Search your business name and look at the reviews there. If your replies show up on the public listing, you’re in the clear – this is the display bug, and Google is already working on it.
  2. Don’t re-reply to reviews you know you’ve already answered. Duplicate replies look inconsistent to customers browsing your profile later.
  3. Give it a few days. Google’s own timeline suggests the dashboard should catch back up on its own.
  4. If replies are missing from the public listing too, that’s a different situation – worth a support ticket, since that would mean the reply may not have actually posted.

The Takeaway

Not every glitch in your marketing tools is a sign something’s broken on your end. Sometimes the platform itself just needs a minute (or a week) to catch up. Keep doing the good work of replying to your reviews promptly and authentically – Google’s dashboard will eventually reflect what your customers can already see.
